As a Canadian who now lives in the USA, we celebrate Thanksgiving for both the American (in November) and Canadian (in October) Turkey Days. So our festive meals need some variations!
Traditionally we would serve a pumpkin and/or apple pie, but to spice things up, we like to create other varieties of pie as well. I present to you, this OMG delicious Chocolate Avocado Pie.
When picking out an avocado, you should be able to hold them in your hand and when you press gently with your thumb, it makes a slight indent. You do not want it to be too soft or too firm, avocado selection is really important - you got this!!
This pie is so simple to prepare. The no bake crust is made with just dates and nuts. The filling is smooth, chocolatey and it's so delicious! It's not only delicious but contains "good for you" ingredients that leave you feeling energized rather than wanting to fall asleep on the couch after dinner.
So go ahead and turn on one of your favourite Thanksgiving movies (if it's Thanksgiving), pull out your pie pan and let's get this pie-party started!!
XO,
Bobbielee

For the Chocolate Avocado Filling:
Toppings:
Place the almonds, hemp seeds, pitted dates, sea salt and cocoa into the bowl of a food processor. Process the mixture until it forms a thick paste like consistency (about 1-2 minutes). If it is too wet, add more dates or almonds. If it is too dry add a tsp of water at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Using a 9 inch pie pan, press the almond-date mixture into the pan. Use the bottom of a cup to press it well, against the sides of the pan. Set the pressed crust into the freezer to chill and solidify.
In the food processor, add in avocado flesh, maple syrup, cocoa powder, melt chocolate chips and sea salt. Process until smooth, scrape the sides down if necessary.
Pour the chocolate filling into the pie crust, using a spatula and smooth the top. Refrigerate for 4 hours.
