Prep: 5 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Servings: 20
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen mixed berries (or choose just one variety)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Directions
- *Prepare the Berries:
- In a saucepan, over medium hear, stir the frozen mixed berries over medium heat. Use a potato masher or fork to gently mash the berries, leaving some chunks for texture. Approx 6-8 minutes
- Once the berries release their juices and start to simmer, reduce the heat to low.
- Stir in the maple syrup or honey. Adjust the sweetness to your liking.
- Add the chia seeds to the berries and mix well. Chia seeds will absorb the liquid and help thicken the jam.
- Continue to simmer the mixture on low heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking. The chia seeds will absorb the liquid and the jam will thicken in about 10-15 minutes.
- If using vanilla extract, stir it into the jam for added flavor.
- Remove the jam from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Transfer it to a glass jar or airtight container and allow it to cool completely before refrigerating. Store for up to 5 days.
